Who Are You?

It has been two years since the last Adaptistration reader survey; as such, it is high time to find out more about you. The original survey had a few questions but since then the internet has grown considerably so the need to acquire more info this time around is necessary. Nonetheless, I know your time is valuable so in order to make it worth your while the good folks over at Naxos have generously offered a free three month subscription to the Naxos Music Library for one lucky survey respondent! The CD quality subscription is valued at $75.00 so you can’t afford to not fill out the survey

In order to facilitate participation, the survey is designed to be as quick and easy. Since Adaptistration is a reader driven new media publication, your input allows it to continually improve offerings. The survey takes seven minutes or less to complete and consists of 36 questions divided into four sections most of which are closed ended and quick to answer. You will be asked about your:

  • demographic info
  • media and culture habits
  • blogging and online habits
  • observations and opinions regarding Adaptistration

Any required questions are marked with an asterisk, otherwise you may skip any questions that you do not wish to answer or do not apply. As a convenience, you may leave the survey at any time and return later to continue answering questions or to edit a previously submitted answer.

About Drew McManus

"I hear that every time you show up to work with an orchestra, people get fired." Those were the first words out of an executive's mouth after her board chair introduced us. That executive is now a dear colleague and friend but the day that consulting contract began with her orchestra, she was convinced I was a hatchet-man brought in by the board to clean house.

I understand where the trepidation comes from as a great deal of my consulting and technology provider work for arts organizations involves due diligence, separating fact from fiction, interpreting spin, as well as performance review and oversight. So yes, sometimes that work results in one or two individuals "aggressively embracing career change" but far more often than not, it reinforces and clarifies exactly what works and why.

In short, it doesn't matter if you know where all the bodies are buried if you can't keep your own clients out of the ground, and I'm fortunate enough to say that for more than 15 years, I've done exactly that for groups of all budget size from Qatar to Kathmandu.

For fun, I write a daily blog about the orchestra business, provide a platform for arts insiders to speak their mind, keep track of what people in this business get paid, help write a satirical cartoon about orchestra life, hack the arts, and love a good coffee drink.
