Director of Development

Center for Contemporary Opera

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement fundraising and solicitation strategies and timelines to meet or exceed budget goal
  • Plan all fundraising activities including donor stewardship and board engagement activities
  • Research and write foundation and government grants, effectively articulating the needs and vision of Center for Contemporary Opera and a familiarity with all existing and upcoming projects
  • Manage donor fulfillment and acknowledgement process, including all direct and online campaigns.
  • Develop relationships with patrons to encourage new and increased giving
  • Serve as person of contact for all contributors and the Board of Directors
  • Additional duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Experience in fundraising in non-profit industry; with preference to performing arts industry
  • Experience with/knowledge of financial accounting; preferably in non-profit industry
  • Experience in proposal writing, corporate, and government grants
  • Proficiency of Microsoft Office and Google Drive
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize and adhere to deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently
  • Flexible work hours
  • Passion for/knowledge of performing arts and/or the operatic art form
