Internship Arts Administration Intern

Job Description
The National Music Festival, located in Chestertown, Maryland, is accepting applications for arts administration interns. The time period of the internship is flexible. Interns will gain hands-on experience in:
- Operations
- Marketing (including social media) and publicity/media relations
- Development
- Venue liaison
- Environmental sustainability planning
- Box office
- Volunteer supervision
- and more. An effort will be made to assign interns to projects that fit their skills, interests and desired career path – though some “grunt work” will be required, we will also engage interns in substantial and meaningful projects.
Requirements: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, either completed or in progress. An interest in arts administration as a career option, and a willingness to learn. Experience in nonprofit and/or classical music organizations is helpful, but not required. A love of classical music and an entrepreneurial attitude are advantages, as are self-motivation and the ability to work independently. We will be happy to provide recommendations and references for employment, advanced training and/or scholarships following successful completion of the internship. College credit is also available for those needing to complete an internship as part of their degree requirements.
About the Festival: The National Music Festival’s 2012 season is June 3- 16 in historic Chestertown on Maryland’s Eastern Shore. The purpose of the National Music Festival is to bring together world-class music teachers from major orchestras, chamber ensembles and conservatory faculties and gifted student musicians on the cusp of their professional careers. All students will receive full scholarships and housing. The two groups will rehearse and perform together in orchestral, chamber, solo recital, vocal, choral and chamber opera repertoire.
